I use a Black and Decker rotary/high speed it`s the Dewalt with a different name, same thumb dial as the Makita. Also use a Polishmaster orbital buffer, it`s not a PC and is used on cars in fair condition that claying makes great... Going to get a PC soon due to everyones enthusiasm here... Whats the comparison from a PC to a rotary? Simmaller, Same, No comparrison?

I just got mine and used it over the weekend. What a time saver and I found that I went through less product too vs. by hand.

If you`ve got the funds don`t mess around get a PC. Porter Cable 7424. Oh and you can search the web if you`d like for the best price like I did, but for the couple extra bucks either way I choose PremiumAutoCar.com. They help sponsor this site and offer a 10% discount for DC members also you can save the postage this month (March) for all orders over $100 which should not be a problem since you will also want some EDGE pads to go along with the PC.
The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price.
