    spider scratches

    hey,

a guy I work with has a `98 ford explorer, and it has spider scratches all over the hood and top. will a pc and ssr3 take care of this or do I need a rotary to tackle this. I realize from reading this forum that you start out moderate and if it doesn`t do the job then move increasingly toward more aggresive products and pads, but I didn`t know if there is a certain level of the ssr line that a pc won`t handle before going to the rotary.

also, do any of you have any ideas on where to get cheap practice metal without paying at the junkyard, or is this the best place to go?

    thanks

Try the SSR2.5 seem to be the answer right know with a high speed with a cut foam pad or wool BLEND pad then go over it again with a PC with a foam polishing pad @ 5 followed with NXT[x2]

You don`t need a rotary to remove swirls. I did this job with a PC and they came out fine.

I don`t know much about the SSR products, but I do know that a PC can handle it. Since the PC is about the safest tool known to man, I don`t think its necessary to get a test panel for practice. You can learn as you go by practicing on regular cars. You really can`t hurt the car with a PC.

    Jngrbrdman,
How long did it take you to get it like that, and what product were you using?

thanks alot for your help everyone, my pc comes this week and i am going to try is out on my friends car with the scratches. might as well let his car be my guinea pig, he is going to trade it in anyway, so maybe i can help him get a little more for it.
