Default Cleaning '72 Chrysler Imperial hubcaps

Stupid question but do I need to use chrome, metal or aluminum cleaner to clean the wheel covers of my '72 Chrysler Imperial?

Currently they look like pewter, but I want to bring them back to a bright, chrome shine. Which product is best and how do I need to clean them?

Welcome to Wax Forum!

It depends on the finish, and the condition of that finish.

Are they chrome plate or stainless steel? Usually in that era they were one or the other.

Chrome plate would generally be shiny like a mirror (at least in their original state) and have a bluish-hue appearance to them -- more like a mirror.

Stainless steel would look more like a nickel coin, and have a slight yellow-ish hue (compared to a mirror, anyways). Not quite like chrome, but similar.

I googled a bit and saw some that look like stainless steel... a mix of brushed and shiny polished. If that is the case, try our Billet Metal Polish.

It's generally best to approach it with the least-aggressive method first.

Or if you can post a photo so we can see the condition, that might be most helpful.
