Default Mew (Cats on Cars)

Gentlemen,

Some of you may have this age old problem. Cats on Cars. It's irritating. They seem to love newly detailed cars. For the cars that have a perfect finish, the cats slip and use their claws for grip. Their paws have soil and causes swirlmarks. Cats on cars is a nightmare for use detailers.

I got a suggestion once to leave my hood open to discourage it. It went on the roof instead.

So the question is this, how do we keep them off our cars?

Grabby.
kbshadow posted about this back in April and included a photograph, but the image has gone off somewhere into the ether, so to that end, I've also included a link to the site that has them for sale.
I guess that being where you are in The Philippines does not help if this item is only for sale on the US mainland, but it does show you what we're talking about if you wanted to chase it up at your end.
I'm not that sure about ordering it online and having it shipped to you, as they're pretty 'iffy' about sending aerosol products by airmail.

Still, the original thread from kbshadow was worth reading, and this is the link to that Post.

This following is the link to the actual item.

Being a huge fan of cats I was impressed with the humanitarian sentiment expressed by Jim D in the original Thread, again highlighting the friendly humour in these forums. I suppose that if you were to also go down this path, then you'd have no problem in the Philippines with Buzzards.

Tony.

Tony,

I'm a huge fan of cats too. I actually prefer cats over dogs. But the problem I have is that all my cats are females so all male cats go to my house, trying to claim territory, trying to mate with my female felines and, the worst, (for me that is) using my cars as their vantage point.

I had that cat in the sights of an 800 feet per second air gun but I just couldn't pull the trigger on it. Lately, though, with the damage it's been doing to my car, I'm close to screaming murder. I'm trying to approach this in a humane way but if that doesn't work, I'm sorry, it has to be done.

Thanks for the insight but my problem is I don't really know where to get it here in the Philippines. I'm planning to trap it, go far far away and set it free. Trapping it would be the hard part.

Still, thanks a lot, Tony.

My mom used to trap cats. All you have to do is put sardines or tuna in the back of the cage.

I assume you have no knowledge whatsoever about the reason why they seem to randomly disappear huh Bama? hehehe

@grabby -- if it's not too much of a hassle, why don't you just pen/cage your cats?

in my case, thankfully my dogs keep the neighbours' cats at bay.

B2Bomber,

The problem is, they're not my cats.

i was referring to your female cats. you know, like keep them away from your neighbours' stray cats' LoS. or keep them away from your car itself so that when their "suitors" pay them a visit, they'd all be away from your car...

A while ago, I saw a cat jump from the roof of a friend's house to the hood of a parked SUV below. Even though I was inside my car when I passed by, I heard a certain thud as the cat landed on the hood. I just hope the cat did no damage .
