    Exclamation #81 Hand Polish

I re-worked my black Santa Fe this weekend and I used Hand Polish for the first time. OH BOY! What a SHINE! The glaze really brought out the finish after working with SSR2 and VM. With the swirl removers the finish was pretty much free of major defects but it lacked, how you say? "POP"

The kicker is that according to Mike Phillips you can apply a polymer over #81 and capture the shine.

Tomorrow morning I`ll be applying either EX or UPP. I had EX on the Santa Fe prior to the work-up and I was quite pleased with the look. Now that it is even more shiny I`m tempted to try again UPP. The Platinum looks great on my wife`s silver spruce Avalon.

Personally never had a problem with #7 and I don`t use it the way Mike Philips described. I apply it VERY VERY THIN to a small area, say a third of a panel and buff off almost immediately (using MF). Never had any streaking, haze or problems of any sort.

Having said that, you can definetely find easier to use products and PB stuff will fit the bill.

I know UPP will bond just fine over 3M PI-III Machine Glaze, don`t know about over Meg`s Hand Polish though. PI-III Machine Glaze doesn`t seem to leave any residue behind. Would make sense using UPP over Speed Glaze as it contains what Meg`s calls a "paintable polymer".

Thumbs up #81 Hand Polish + UPP = Rocks

It Works! This morning I put a coat of UPP on my very shiny black Santa Fe. UPP went on fine - it`s been awhile and I put too much on - after buffing alot.

As Phillips said, you CAN apply a polymer over #81. I will testify to that. UPP "captured" the shine of #81 and added its own gloss to the finish.

For me the deal is to prepare the surface by any means comfortable to you - in my case SSR2 and VM - then apply #81 Hand Polish to bring out the real potential of the surface.

UPP looks so very nice on my wife`s Avalon. I decided to go back to UPP on the Santa Fe. I was not disapointed!

    #81 and UPP ROCKS!

What is VM and is #81 Hand Polish actually a glaze-type product or a polish? Or is a polish a glaze? I don`t think so, but I gotta ask the dumb question.

VM is ClearKote`s Vanilla Moose - a mild abrasive and chemical cleaner that leaves some protection on the surface. #81 Hand Polish is actually a glaze. It offers zero protection, but, boy does it shine. It`s Meg`s Professional Line and is "paintable." Thus you can apply a polymer over it.

In this case I used Platinum Ultimate Paint Protection and I am EXTREMELY happy with the results. The Santa Fe has NEVER looked better.

Sure, you could, but its not going to make too much of a difference. Megs GC is a very deep and glossy wax, just not durable.
