    NewB?

    Hello All,
I have a black truck that is about a year and a half old. The truck looks great, but my problem is my diamond plate aluminum truck box. The box is about 8 years old and basically needs a lot of attention. It is very dull looking and against a gloss black truck, well you know what I mean. I have tried blue magic all metal polish and that helped a little. Do any of you have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

there are a lot of great metal polishes out there ... but my question is ... isn`t diamond plate usually chromed or is it buffed out?

You might be using the wrong type of protectant? I don`t know though

Zephyr Pro-40 which you can get threw PAC. I`ve used it on that type of box with decent results by hand. The thing that you need so a rotary buffer with a wool cutting pad that can really get the product hot and work the surface.

    Just a suggestion.
Check with the manufacturer of the box to determine how it was finished originally. They very likely would have some suggestions for polishing products. They most likely had to use something before it was delivered.
I do think you are going to need some mechanical help. At least a drill with a polishing bob no matter what product you use. Doing an entire box by hand doesn`t sound like a quick or easy project.

There is a thread showing what someone did to some aluminum pontoons on a boat. If I can find that thread, I will post a link.

    WOW,
What a thread, but I think you have the right idea and checking with the manufacture to see how it was original finished. I do have a PC, but I`m not that sure about putting the foam pads to that rough of a surface. However maybe with a wool cutting pad this might work. A polished aluminum box(?) against a black truck would look great. Thanks and I will look into everything that has been suggested so far.
