Advice needed on an engine bay detail

hey guys, right now i`m working on an engine swap and basically refreshing every part i can on my mazda. as you can see in the pics, it seems that an underbody coating was applied to my car and a bit of overspray occured in my bay. it is in pretty random places, but make for eye sores nevertheless. i thought i could try a crude aproach with some carb cleaner. it worked very well, but i didn`t appreciate the amount of paint that came off as well. do you guys have any specific product in mind that might help me out? also, i`m looking for the best trim restore product out there as well. thanks for the guidance.

Using carb cleaner is a good way to remove paint. Not a good way to remove that black stuff. Try full on nondiluted Simple Green and see what that does. It may just take a sponge with a scratcher pad on the back and a lot of elbow grease. Its going to look a lot better than it does now regardless.

I`ve heard that Poorboy`s has a great trim and molding renewer. I can`t remember the name of it, but if you go to www.poorboysworld.com then you`ll be able to find it. Post in his sponsor forum down below and ask Poorboy about it. I`ve heard it is just really great stuff.

hehe, yeah it is quite bad looking as of right now. i did actually try some non-diluted simple green and it didn`t seem to touch it. anybody have any other ideas? thanks for the suggestion on the trim restore. i`m going to have to check it out.
