Always looking for a deal ...

I have been on the look out for a good buy on another rotary, after my Dewalt went down and I was using my back-up (also 849). I stumbled across this one earlier this week, and it arrived today via UPS.

    Yes !!! A brand new Milwaukee for $100 !!!

I cannot wait to break this baby in !!!

Wow what a deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been thinking about a rotary, and was also thinking about a Milwaukee. I love Milwaukee tools, and in my personal opinion I think they are the best. I was looking at the Milwaukee that goes to 2800 rpm. I am still trying to decide between the 1750 and 2800 models. Both have a dial speed control along with variable speed at the trigger. Let me know how you like yours.

Yup, and Milwaukee is the mother brand to Makita!

If you are looking for a rotary, look up the Makita group buy we started. I`m hoping Dwayne will seek this out when he gets back.

I have the same model myself, it is a BEAST! I like it though, I think that the added weight can be useful if you know how to work with it.

After you work with this picking up a PC or a makitta is like picking up a toy!

What a deal! I picked up a fairly used one on Ebay for $100 earlier this year and already replaced the brushes @ $31. I should get a ton of use out of it now though.

I am no longer allowed to use ebay, or so says my wife. Ebay and my X-communication to its cult is the reason I`ve found DetailCity. I was seriously addicted.

Clean Dean, you had to go and post your winning bid here in my, thought to be, Ebay refuge!

Damn You Man! I`m gonna fall off the wagon!

eBay, I have had some great success buying used equipment through ebay. About a year ago I purchased:

    Mytee Tempo
    Dewalt 849
    3600 PSI Honda Pressure washer
    Varies detailing supplies

all for ...... Are you ready for this .... $500 !!!! The owner of this mobile detailing operation had graduated college and was just looking to move the stuff before he moved on. Well worth the 3 hour trip I made to pick the stuff up !!! :cool

    Clean Dean,
Please stop tempting me with Ebay. My addiction sponsor would have words with you if he knew you were using you`re peer presure on me. Now I`m gonna have to go detail my wifes car to keep my mind off of Ebay. Seriously, I`m getting the erge to do a concours detail so the whole day will be consumed.

    Update on the Milwalkee 5460

I used the Milwaulkee on a Silver 1995 BMW 5-series, and a Burgandy 1989 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC. I found that the machine is a bit heavier than the Dewalt 849, but the motor is so smooth and powerful. I did some serious cutting on the SEC and found that the 5460 is a pleasure to work with on the horizontal panals. I did see a bit of a difference working on the verticle panals with the Dewalt being a bit easier to manuver. This could be due to the fact that I have been using the 849 since the year 2000 and I have just grown acustom to that model. I also immediately removed the side handle on the 849 and learned to guide that buffer by gripping the top of the buffer and I feel that this gives me better control than the side handle. Overall the Milwaulkee seems like a great machine, and a friend of mine who details boats in Long Island NY has already offered to swap me my new 5460 for a brand new Makita. I think I`ll try the Makita for a day before I make my decision.
