    New Car Prices

While watching the news this evening I saw an ad by a local Lincoln dealer for a 2004 Town Car with a discount from list price. Nothing really new there, but...... the discount was $9,000.
Do you think there is any chance that Ford/Lincoln might be packing a little extra into the list prices?
Having the car overpriced by $9,000 seems absolutely ridiculous to me. I wonder how the guy that bought one a couple of months ago for close to list likes what they just did to his resale. I don`t think I would ever go back.

yes I agree new car prices are way over inflated and then they have all these rebates or 0% financing which usually equalls the discount...one or the other and if you take the 0% then they want you to pay list price:\ pay full price:crazy

The other problem with the rebates, etc. is it is beating the heck out of used vehicle prices ... especially American made. I have read many articles saying the automakers want to reverse the trend of rebates and special financing to sell cars but now everyone expects the special offers.

I want a truck badly now, but can`t visualize spending $40+ on it. I`ll be driving a Mercedes if I`m going to spend that kind of money.
