sorry there`s no list :dunno , I pick and choose the testers by what I read on many different forums.

I have a volunteer list that is very long, but I usually don`t pick any of them...it`s usually an unsuspecting customer who gets an extra "goodie" with a note of explanation

    Hey Steve,

what is the process that Poorboys goes through to develop new products? Do you make up specifications and then send it out to be manufactured, test it and go from there? I am just curious as to how some of the worlds best car products get developed. I`m sure that you don`t sit around with test tubes and mix the stuff yourself, so how does it happen?

I do a lot of reading on many forums. I read what people like and dislike, then try and fill the void..that`s where EX came from. Then I describe to the chemist what I want and he makes samples. I test them and then give some samples to other people who I have read posts by, especially people who are unhappy with what is available to them or people I know I can trust to give me fair & objective input...if it stinks it stinks!!! if it`s good I wonder if it can be better.
Many times people will write to me or post that they would like to see a certain type of product...in the case of Natty`s wax, Natty gave me a challenge to make a paste that he would like better than what he was already using....I like a good challenge and so does my chemist
I think now that most of the product line is established, now i look for ideas to fill in the gaps...these ideas usually come from
people who have had problems...sort of like how SSR2.5 came to be. SSR2 was not agressive enough, SSR3 was too agressive..thus a gap.
I am always open for new ideas and if a product can be made better, it will go into the works..ie QD+ ..the new version is more user friendly, even though the original formula was one of my favorites.
I hope this answers your question without boring you

No not boring at all...I am very interested in business and also car care, you do both! I always though it would be fun to create car car products since I am so pasionate about using them. You got a great job steve so I was just curious as to how you create your products. You must know a lot about chemistry to try and design the products. I mean, where do you start to create a wax or sealent? Its got to be tough to decide what should go into it and why. All I can say is...keep doing what your doing...its working!!! Ohh and also...a poorboys leather conditioner would be nice in the future

gave the leather conditioner a few thoughts, but my chemist said that Natural Look already has conditioners in it, and if you want a pure conditioner, I have read nothing but rave reviews for the 4* leather conditioner, which can be bought from Dwayne

Yes, I have and love 4*. I was actually giving it some thought, and there are two new product idea that I would like to see from Poorboys in the future. One is to have a polish and sealent in one, just like your PwC but with the resins in EX-P instead of carnauba. Also, a Quick Detailer with EX-P`s resins, again as opposed to carnauba. Many other manufactuers have QD`s that accompany their sealents, and I find them very useful for extending protection, removing waterspots or fingerprints, and most importantly, restoring surface slickness. Its a great way to refresh the sealent in between washes. These suggestions really aren`t new products, just some mods on existing products. But in anycase I love all of your products that Ive used so far and I will certainly try anything new that you release.

    -Charles

P.S. You should bring some of the new products that are in development to the Detail Day. That would be a great oppertunity for us all to get a sneak preview as well as give you some feedback. I think you would really be able to learn a lot about what people like and don`t like during that event!

pssst pssst Steve, you lack the god almighty `waterspot remover` , seems like there`s always somebody looking for it in ALL the car forums that I have visited

ps:don`t put acid in it please, or else can`t shipped by air (I think)
