Question Wax on Windows

I've heard that you can put wax on your windows and it works like using a glass treatment (Rain-X, Castrol Accuvision, etc...). Is this true? Is there any advantage of putting wax on your windows rather than the glass treatments?

On the Power Tour back in 1995, one of the older cars lost their wiper motor in the middle of Kansas, in a torrential downpour. We applied some Natural Formula Paste Wax to the windshield until they were able to get to a town to have it repaired.

Personally, I don't like the idea of wax on the windshield. It can leave you with less than clear vision as the wipers run over it.

I'll take new wiper blades every 6 months instead.

After washing and drying my car(including windows), I go back over all my windows(including windshield) with the same micro fiber towel I last used for wax haze removal...I add no wax, just what is on the towel already.
Looks and preforms just as good as the rain-x I have been using for years...
I do clean my wiper blades each washing also.
(BTW-I use Mothers wax)
