Paint that hasnt ever been polished/waxed

im sure you guys have experiene with paint thats been neglected for a couple years, and just feels totally dead. when you try to run your finger on it, your finger just sticks to it like tape. anyways, should i stay with my same regime of...

    wash
    clay
    DACP (something new i added)
    SSR2 (maybe)
    SSR1
    NXT

would that bring the "smooth" feel back to the paint, instead of this really, flat, sticky, dry feel? thanks

I`d skip the DACP step...and of course I"d use PP or PwC and then EX-P. Wash, clay, SSR2, PP, EX-P on white. I like no carnuba on white. Just clear stuff.
Dream big and be willing to do the work to get there.

Unless the car has lots of swirls, etching, etc. you could just go with SSR1 then the NXT. The paint is probably just very neglected and oxidized. You shouldn`t need to use that many products with abrasives if the surface defects are minimal. Once you finish your regimen, the oils should be replenished and it will look and feel great.

I have a feeling (pardon the pun) that the car will have a completely different feel after the clay.

I would clay, then DACP followed by SSR1 topped with NXT.

Zesty--I forgot if you are running a PC or not, but DACP is made for the PC and rotary, not by hand.

A good claying should be the key, but more than likely there is just dead clear and/or paint on there that DACP and SSR2 should get.

    Good luck!

of course i have a PC !!! you treat me like the kid at the school car wash! anyway, ill clay and see what happens to the paint. im thinking that theres probably gonna be a lot of dead paint etc etc. the good news is, i got another week, because she cant do it this week. another week for me to ponder...

I believe you can use DACP by hand.Although you wont get as near as the same results as opposed to using a ROB like the PC.Using the PC just makes applications easier and faster, letting the machine and product do most of the work.Using the right techniques and detailing tools can yield satisfatory results.Scottwax uses DACP by hand on all his detailing jobs. His results speak for itself.JMHO
