Default Car Show Road Trip Prep

In early-June I'm making the trek from Jacksonville, FL to Gatlinburg, TN for the bi-annual Mopars in the Mountains gathering. Of course .... I want to make sure my car looks good for the cruise-in and maybe even the car show ---- though, my car is a daily driver and I won't have time to detail the engine compartment to show quality.

I have been told that the host hotel has an area to wash cars. However, I don't know if it's in the shade or full sun. I have a shelf full of Mother's products -- California Gold Wash, Wash with Carnauba, Showtime Instant Detailer, Spray Wax, Synthetic Wax, Back-to-Black Plastic Restorer, Tire Shine, and Wheel & Tire Cleaner and a few other red bottles.

So .... should I buy some Waterless Car Wash or take the buckets, soap, and mitts?

Anything else I should throw in my traveling wash kit?

For the exterior, I'd take a couple bottles of Waterless Wash & Wax, and lots of quality microfiber towels.

For the interior, the Speed Interior Detailer is a terrific product - it's my go-to every other day product to keep the interior looking good in less than 1 minute.

A good glass cleaner (like the new Speed aerosol glass & screen) would be nice. I doubt you'll need the new Speed Bug & Tar, because love bug season should be over by then.

That's my minimal travel kit (and a laundry bag for dirty towels).

I did a show there a couple years ago, and took my family along. We had a terrific time doing all the touristy stuff.

Thank you, Forrest.

Fortunately.....I have LOTS of yellow microfiber towels. Wonder where they came from???

Do you know which retailers in Florida are stocking the Waterless Wash?

And, how does Speed Interior Detailer differ from VLR?

Great tip on taking a laundry bag!!

The Smoky Mountains are one of our go-to destinations to escape the Florida heat in the summer. We've spent a lot of vacations in Townsend, TN and Maggie Valley, NC.

Pep Boys stocks the waterless in all their stores. O'Reilly has it in the warehouse, and can get it in a day or 2, to any store.

Of course, Amazon and AutoGeek also have it.

Speed Interior Detailer is just a light cleaner/detailer for all surfaces, whereas VLR has much more cleaner and protectant in it. Interior Detailer is great for fingerprints, dust, etc., to keep the interior looking good and touched up.

Thanks.

And I happen to have a Pep Boys coupon.

Thank you, Al.

Any time you get a bunch of gearheads together, it's bound to be a good trip.

BTW .... I stopped at my nearby Pep Boys on Saturday and they did not have the Waterless Car Wash on the shelf. Nor was there an empty slot for it.

The Asst. Mgr said that he knew that they "used to stock it" and didn't know if they were getting more or not.

So, I'm ordering it through them online since I have a coupon for Pep Boys from and oil purchase.

They still don't make it easy as they have the Mothers Waterless Car Wash in the "Car Wash" section of their website instead of the "Waterless Car Care" section. (However, they do have Showtime and VLR in the Waterless Car Care section.)
