Default anodized aluminum

I have a 98 tracker unpainted hull. It is dull. I tried a little mothers aluminum polish works great but says not to use on anoized aluminum which i am assuming my boat is. Can i use it will it hurt the aluminum what else can i use. Lots of black comes off when i rub it on. Thanks

Aluminum boats are not usually anodized. If you're seeing black, that tells you it's not coated in any way.

Mothers Marine PowerMetal is safe to use, and in your case appropriate. As for tools, you have several choice. The original (large) PowerBall would be a good choice, as would a dual action buffer with a terry cloth or wool pad. Just remember to work a section at a time and to wipe the black residue off before it dries.

Welcome to wax Forum!

It sounds like the finish is not anodized -- anodized would not turn very black at all, and it very well wouldn't polish up very much without a tremendous amount of work.

Looks like I owe Forrest an Arnold Palmer for the "jinx!"
