Default outboard motor wax/polish

Im trying to get a "mirrior like" finish on my outboard. Its a black mercury cover. So far ive tried polishing compound which left me a nice white haze, cleaner wax and back to black. I can get a nice clean look but not that deep factory frsh look. Any suggestions on products or techniques that could help me out?

Default Re: outboard motor wax/polish

Compound was probably too aggressive of a product. I'd suggest a polish, like our PowerPolish, applied with a DA buffer a polishing pad (white in Lake Country pad material), followed a good wax.

Keep in mind the paint used on that engine cowling is a bit different than automotive, because of the environment it operates in. You won't find the depth, but you should be able to get close. Our Marine Synthetic Wax would be a good choice after polishing.
