    Pricing Help

Need some input about pricing. there are a few small guy used car lots in my area and i want to offer them a package deal for cleaning there cars on the lot after rain, pollen get them dirty again. i`m thinking of using poorbys spray and wipe or a similar product. since i am not mobile it would have to be a waterless product. i have already talked to them about a detail when they first get the car but would like to have a chance to keep them clean for them.the number of cars they have on average is around 12- 20. any advice would be a big help. Thanks Scott

I guess I will get you started, It sounds like alot of work however, if ti where me I would try to price it by the hour. So figure out what you would like to make a hour and go from there.

    Ex**** 3hrs work $20/hr = $60

Figure out roughly how long it will take you and price accordingly, since they are small they might not be as willing to pay much considering they could hire a teenager to wash them for $6hr.

Good luck!! How did you make out with the initial detailing of the cars did they agree to that?

    Unhappy Do Some Footwork...

Keep in mind that pricing should also encompass such things as licensing, insurance, taxes, materials, etc. The "I got a bucket and some wax -- I`m a detailer mentality" hurts us all in the area of pricing when those with such an aptitude get going.

Don`t get me wrong, I`m all for competition and the entrepreneurial spirt, but please do some foot work in checking the pricing structures in your local. It`s as easy as picking up the phone book and making a few enquiries. With this information in hand, you will be able to know the going rate for services, and base your pricing at a completive rate which will enability increase your profit margin if you choose to not worry about the first three.

Thanks for the input guys. Three of the sites told me they send their cars to a couple of different guys but if i give them my card they would use me also. still in the planning/ deciding what chemicals to use stage so i have not handed out any cards yet. thanks again for the replies.
