    Porter Cable 7401....

I bought this rotarty polisher about 2 months ago and today it had it`s breaking in party with a Red 1996 Honda Del Sol (daily driver)

    http://www.porter-cable.net/porcab74mot7.html

What I like about this machine...

    - light weight

    - powerful 10 amp motor

-handle placement = great control !!!

    - so easy to use on vertical panals !!!

What I did not like ...

    - unusual feel on hood and trunk (horizontal panals)

The Del Sol was a daily driver with some repaint. I used Megs DACP + #9 and then sealed with EX...

    before...

    Del Sol...

Definitely a cool car. Not a lot of power, but a great car for a college kid that does not want to drive mom`s old station wagon...

    Paint...

Cleaned up nice and EX really has enough "pop" to seal without a topper...

    The 7401...

performed really well in tight areas. The control of the Edge Pad was incredible, especially in these areas...

Very cool looking tool and the car looks great too ...it looks like it would be a great tool for sides and smaller vehicles, but do you think it will be as easy to use when you do a full size SUV? like the middle of a hood? or roof?

    Speed dial...

    JeffBruce

The dial is right were is should be at your thumb like the Milwaulkee 5460.

DACP... between 1100 and 1300 RPMs.

    Poorboy

Very good question. I will try her out on the next full-sized SUV I take on. I would think you give up a few inches of reach with the shortened length of the machine.

that`s what I was thinking I was thinking how I never seem to be able to get a good leverage on my Tahoe and it`s not lifted or having 20`s, which many people do have now.
Let me know..I was thinking of getting a new machine for my personal use, but I was leaning toward the Milwaukee like you just got.

Clean Dean what pads did you use with what products to achieve no buffer swirls and no DACP marrying. ?

Looks great I forum member from autopia used the Makita type polisher like that he got some nice results.

www.iamwashmania.com was his website i think he was from thiland.

    Fr0zen...

DACP will usually leave quite a bit of marring on a dark finish, and will leave some nasty swirls if you use too aggresive a pad combine with high rpms. I worked this suface with blue Edge polishing pad set at 1100-1300 rpms. I really work DACP until it is practically gone prior to wiping. I followed the DACP with #9 and a blue edge pad set at @ 1600-1700 rpms and really worked the product over the surface.

The car had quite a bit of wash scratches and spider webbing, and I would have liked to compund this car a bit more aggressively, but chose not to because there was a considerable amount of repaint on the car an some of the paint seemed thin.

    freedre...

I picked her up on ebay for $99 with 6 wool pads.

Thats a good deal, She can do the same work as the rotary right. ? Yeah I to find that the Green edge pads with DACP does leave quite some naysty marrying and buffer swirls so I been using the blue pad its really the most versitle pad in the edge line up.
