    Calcium/Lime deposits on paint...

A friend of mine in Port St. Lucie, FL has a shop, and during the hurricane the roof got pretty messed up. He has a `72 Duster that was just recently painted 2-3 weeks ago and has never been waxed. The roof leaked big time, and got calcium/lime deposits all over. All of the aluminum stuff in his shop is corroded. The Duster`s brand new paint is covered in this stuff...he said bug & tar remover wont do anything, but you can scrape it off with your fingernail. I`m in New Jersey so I`m not there to help him....any ideas on what can be used to remove this safely?

It`s either "on the surface" or "etched into the surface".

Sounds like it`s "on the surface". I would clay bar it and polish out any problem areas.

I agbree withthe clay except for one thing, if there`s a lot of the stuff on the paint, I`d be worried that it would load up the clay too fast and cause problems. I suggest a wash followed by a wipe down with white vinager THEN clay
