Thumbs up any products to remove clear coat from wheels

Help if you can. I have alum wheels on my jeep and the clear coat is coming off so I thought I would just take it off. Is this possible. if so how can I do it. Is there a product on the market that can help me. Thanks!

While some folks recommend an aluminum stripper (like used on aircraft), I prefer to use a product formulated just for wheel clear coat removal.

Busch Enterprises in Charlotte NC makes such a propduct - part # 64016. The last phone number I had for them was 704 588-2067.

It's a nasty product (it has to be to work properly), so make sure you follow all the directions and safety precautions.

I've had good luck using E-Z Off oven cleaner, but it's caustic and messy. Test an inconspicuous spot on the inside of the wheel and see if the E-Z Off will strip the clear coat, Clear anodizing usually gets weaker with age.
Wear Eye protection and gloves and long sleeves if you can.... don't do anything like this around your pets!

NOTE: Rims should be removed from vehicle! and broken down (No tire) don't even think of spraying E-Z Off near your nice paint!
