Default Cleaning Rims & Tires

I use Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish on my rims and Tire Shine on my tires. I'm wondering if using Mothers Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner would provide any additional benefits?

Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner is for removing brake dust on coated OEM wheels.

If you have polished aluminum wheels (and without a clearcoat), you do not want to use this cleaner, but instead our Polished Aluminum Wheel Cleaner and/or our Back-to-Black Tire Renew.

Cleaning the tires periodically with Tire Renew can enhance the results of any tire dressing, as it's working on a clean surface.

Great, thanks for the response. Which product(s) do you think is best for cleaning and polishing the pictured factory Lexus ES rims?

That's a coated alloy (aluminum) wheel -- in this case, silver metallic paint with a clearcoat.

Our plastic polishes work really well on coated wheels, or you can use your favorite Mothers car wax, including spray wax.

There do appear to be some issues with some bubbling, which is likely some corrosion from moisture that got underneath the coating. Work those areas gently or you may breach that further.

Perfect, thanks for your help. I carefully put CG Synthetic Wax on them today. Does waxing rims help protect them, or is it just for appearance?

Protects them and makes them easier to clean with just soap and water until they need another coat in a few months.
