Imagine a brand new car !!!

I got a call from a customer last week with a request I never heard before (get your mind out of the gutter groebuck !!!)

He wanted his 2004 Black Jeep Wrangler Sahara detailed ??? He explained that the although the Sahara was new it sat on an outdoor lot and the hood was pitted, chemically etched and chipped !!!

I thought it couldn`t be that bad it was an 04 !!!

Guess what, IT WAS BAD !!! The paint looked like it was 5 years old. It must have sat in a very hot and rough environment.

She came back rather nicely with a yellow wool pad and Meguiars Power cleaner Compound, followed by DACP with an Edge Yellow Foam Pad, followed by DACP with an Edge Green pad then #9 with an Edge Blue...

Of course Poorboys EX to top !!!

The paint still has some minor chips that will be addressed by another professional, and she should look new again. Here is a few pics...

    A couple quick pics...

    Most new car treatments...

Clay followed by SG or #9 then seal. Imagine compounding a 04 car with a wool pad !!! Go figure ...

    Looks really good

I hope they got a big discount on that vehicle. I`d never buy a new vehicle that had serious etching, etc.

The car had less than 500 miles !!! I did not believe it at first until I saw it !!! The dealership was in Maryland, but I do not know the name. If you are buying a car in Maryland I will get the name for you.

Great job Dean...sad thing is that a careful examination of most showroom vehicles can really shock you:bigscream :eek ....before buying the Equinox, which had arrived 4 days earlier , we looked at a Caravan and it had more scratches and swirls than my 6 year old Tahoe that sits outdoor 24/7 :nono and I also saw a new showroom Tahoe that looked like everyone uses it as a resting point:dunno ...

Yah -when I got my 2003 TL-S it had acid rain damage on the hood, roof and trunk right through the clear !! - I had to fight with Acura for 6 months to get it repaired...

Looks Great. That`s crazy that a new vehicle would need that though.

    Clean Dean,
Just curious, how long did it take you for the buffing steps.(Power cleaner compound, DACP Edge Yellow, DACP Edge Green, and #9 Edge Blue...) And of course Poorboy`s EX

The Power Cleaner was worked at about 1100 RPM w/ my Milwaulkee until the compound was about broken down to nothing on the surface.

DACP with the yellow pad at about 1100 RPM`s until the buffer swirls were much less visible.

DACP with the green light cut pad at about 1200-1400 RPM`s, was were I spent the most time on the hood. I really worked each section and re-evaluated the hood from various angle by opening the hood toward different light angles. This step really corrected the cutting action of the Compound.

Number 9... I use my Dewalt with # 9 and an blue edge pad and crank her up to about 2000 RPMs and really work this product to eliminate any marring left behind by the DACP.

Poorboys EX ... Light coat with foam applicator, wait 30 minutes, buff off with MF and AM Bodyshine where needed.
