    Body paint question

I have a lexus and the paint is in mint condition

only thing is the REAR bumper is starting to get all these crack lines and what appears to be fine paint scratches all over. the rest of the paint is very nice no defects.

should i bring it to a body shop and have it painted since these scratches are all over on both sides of the license plate and from bottom of the tail lights to the top, if so how much does spraying a rear bumber typically cost? can they make an exact color match?

seems like many of the lines wont buff out with a rotary at all, the bumber is streaking with lines but no chips or actual paint cracks

what do you suggest i do here?

Can you feel the lines at all? Do you have any pics you could show us?

Just out of personal expereience, try to avoid a repaint by all means. Most places cannot even come close to a factory baked paintjob.

    NO

THERE ARE NO LINES ON THE BUMBER THAT YOU CAN FEEL OR PUT YOUR FINGERNAIL INTO

THERE JUST ALL OVER LOOKS LIKE ITS GONNA CRACK OR SOMETHING THE REST OF THE PAINT LOOKS REAL REAL GOOD BUT THE BUMPER HAS NOT HELD UP AT ALL, CAR IS GONNA BE 3 YEARS OLD, I HAVE NO CLUE WHY THE BUMPERS PAINT GOT LIKE THIS.

SO I GUESS MOST BODY GUYS CANT MAKE A PERFECT MATCH? I THOUGHT THESE GUYS HAD TOP OF THE LINE COMPUTER MATCHING BLAH BLAH BLAH. WHAT YOU THINK LEAVE IT OR PAINT IT?

Can`t hurt to try and buff it out. If you want a good match it just depends on where you go, and how much you`re willing to pay. Depending on color tint time can be insanely high for a perfect color match. another option is bleanding the quarter panels. This also add`s a lot of cost and time though. It is posible to get a flawless match, but only a QUALIFIED shop and only if you are willing to pay for it. But cirtainly try and buff it out first. BTW watch the caps please.

I believe I know what you are talking about. Its like a spideweb type cracking, but you cannot feel it no matter what.

I have that same problem on one of my bumpers, I have NO clue what it is.

depends on the condition of the bumper, color, the size and shape of the bumper, the shop (hourly rates vary a LOT!) Just go out and get quotes from various shops in you`re area. Ask to see the shop. Look for a down draft booth a place that uses RM paint ie glassurit, dymont etc. Dupont paints are not bad but are not as good imo. Always ask other costomers to see how they`ve been treated. Also ask to see cars that they just finnished.
