A glaze makes a car look wet and gives the paint clarity. I`ve only used Meg`s #7. I read where Meg`s #81 is better on clearcoat than #7. A glaze is used after a polish and before a wax. It has fillers in it to help hide the defects in your paint. It has very little or no durabilty. Here are a few glazes. Vanilla Moose Wax, Meg`s #7 and Meg`s #9. 3M`s Imperial Hand Glaze, One Grand Omega Glaze. Hope this helps. Rick

glazes are used on new paint jobs while the paint is cureing, or as a layer for addtitional shine.
I use it for the later of the two on after i get polishing and right before I apply the sealant

I would say that #9 is a cleaner/glaze as opposed to a pure glaze.Originally posted by rabbi

IMO pure glazes are for beauty only and have VERY little if no cleaning ability. They are best applied to a clean paint surface to which a polish has been applied.
Examples IMO of pure glazes:
meg`s #3, #5, #7, #81

You`re right EBP # 9 isn`t a glaze. Why I typed that I don`t know. :dunno. Thanks for correcting me. Rick

I wish there was more of a standard for calling something what it is. I have this stuff at work called Vitreo Glaze, but it`s a sealant.
Teflon is for frying pans.
Is Vanilla Moose wax a glaze? I thought Vanilla moose hand glaze was a glaze and the vm wax was a wax?
Ashley-Its the same. Some would call it a cleaner/glaze.It has light polishing abrasives which are very mild IMO and oils in it too to give the surface a wet look.At least when *I* used it, thats the finish it gave to me.

First, dont be alarmed, its thin like water, not typical of a glaze
It hides imperfections VERY well, can really take care of that last 5%
It has some very fine abrasives as well to provide small polishing action
It can remove minor oxidation
AND it lays down a bit of protection too, that has been known to last for 1-2 months. The protection is petroleum based.
Talk about something that does a bit of everything. For me VM has found its place after polishing and before the wax. Great product.
Carnuba Moose Wax is their wax. I refer to VM as Vanilla Moose Wax which in reality is Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze. Moose Wax is their cleaner wax.Sorry for the confusion.:miss Whaler.
