    Prep`ing a vehicle for Sale

I just bought my company Van for $330. I thought i could make a few bucks on it...
    1. I check`d Kelly Blue book.
    2. I Detail`d it. Inside and Outside.

Took it to CarMax for a free estimate.
They are offering about $300 more than Kelly`s Blue book.
They comment`d, "This is a well prep`d vehicle"
    (I use`d Mullet Wax, what a shine)
They overlook`d many dings, worn carpet, some other engine issues...

I think this is another avenue to make money, if someone is selling there vehicle, you will increase the value between $500 and $1000.
    in my estimates..

I have always believed that a well prep`d car will go for a bit more than otherwise. The only case where this wasn`t true was my mothers 99 Crown Vic with 80,000 miles. It went for underbook after several months of trying to sell.

I had an idea some time back while it was raining:wait That I would call on people that where selling cars in the paper. To see if they had the cars detailed before selling. I hit a few that had already and most had said no they did not want to invest the cash.
One paid out a local German car mechanic who had some select used cars and lets me detail the cars for him on site.

I believe I read somewhere that a "well" detailed vehicle with yield $454 more on trade in or sale.....I tell my customers this, and in essence, they are making money by paying me $200-300.
