    Buying Porter Cable question....

I am looking at the PC 7424 on www.coastaltool.com and also on autogeek and all the other places. The one on autogeek and coastal tool seem to come with a 6" backing plate/balancer with them. I assume thats what I need but what exact pads do I need to get? I know I want 2 polishing pads and 1 finishing pad as I will be using some SSR2 and some PwC on a fairly new vehicle with spider webs etc that are fairly light. Anyway, I am thinking I need the 6.5 inch pads? Are they all velcro backed? I just want to make sure I get the right stuff for the weekend. Also, whats the difference with the 7336 I think? The polisher one....? Thanks alot.

It is up to you but with a 6" backing plate I personally love the 7.5" pads. The 6.5" pads will only lieave you 1/4" of leaway between the edge of pad and backing plate....not enough for me.

Also, Lowes has the Porter Cables for $109. At least the ones near me do. Not sure what the places you are looking at have them for.

I bought mine from PAC. Called Dwayne and asked what I needed and he sent it. Good price and great service. He spent some time on the phone with me and made many suggestions. Very happy with the machine and Dwayne.

That backing plate is WAY too close to the edge of the pad for me! One slip and the paint will be toast.

    Lowes is like this http://www.porter-cable.com/index.asp?e=547&p=2806

Just a note, I killed my PC backplate velcro after only 5 hours, so you may want o buy one without the black plate and get one of the nicer yellow plastic ones.

Call Dwayne at http://www.premiumautocare.com Ask for any specials ~ your already getting Value Added Service ~A 10% discount for being a member on this forum and all the chemicals and pads you would like..... Dwayne makes this forum available....When you price it out and consider all the information you get ont his forum....I figure it is as competative in price and blows away the competition with information made available on the forum.

    I`d consider that a bargin!
