    A protected 1972 Stingray

Allright, I need to prep a 72 Stingray for a carshow thats coming up. This car is an absolute beauty, with around 200 miles on it since it was repainted over a year ago. 6 months after it was painted (basically after a VERY hot summer) the entire car was protected by that 3M protective coating. Its the "plastic" they place over paint to protect from road chips and so on.

So in actuality, there is very little exposed paint. I have no idea how to actually make the paint look any better.

I`d look at glaze you are working on a plastic surface. That will give no protection but if I hear you right you want gloss for the show

Dave has a good point. I would just straight glaze the car, and/or if you have a quality paste wax, see what yields the greatest look you are aspiring.

Thanks one thing for sure is a non-agressive or cutting product. I did a car with that stuff on the front end like a clear bra. I used a plastic cleaner to start then glazed, sealant paste wax.

Lastly I would never put one of those on my car to much trouble to work around!!

Yes, this protective coating is an absolute pain in the rear. But its good for my father who rarely washes his cars, so his gorgeous paintjob is protected from human laziness

I guess its time to bust out the bottle of #7 that I retired to the back of the shelf.
