I agree, it`s a very major surgery and a very big deal.
Good luck Steve, I can`t wait to hear word that you`re back to trying to keep up with two little tornados.

Part of you recovery will require you to grow a mullet!

Let`s all be thankful he made it to the hospital and his problem was correctly diagnosed and they are taking care of it. I haved talked to a few people the last couple of days who have had similar surgeries. They all agree the first few weeks are tough, but they have all felt a lot better in the long run. I pray the prognosis is the same for Steve. :angel

"Let`s all be thankful he made it to the hospital and his problem was correctly diagnosed and they are taking care of it."

That`s a really good point Aloha!! When they drug me into CCU the day I had it I was hiding under the blankets crying, thinking I was way too young to even be there. A nurse caught me bawling and told me that if a guy makes it this far that it was almost assured that he was gonna be just fine. She said that sudden death syndrome from a heart attack was very common in men in their 40`s and 50`s.

I don`t like to preach but if you guys ever feel any irregular heartbeats, any degree of chest pain, shortness of breath, etc., let them check you out. A simple EKG can spot trouble. And if you smoke, quit!! That was one of the main contributing factors that did me in.

I hope Steve gets to do cardiac rehab. It`s usually 32 one hour sessions with some awesome nurses and they will whip his butt into shape.

I`m very encouraged by what I`m hearing about Steve and think he`s gonna be fine.

HI Everyone again this is Steves wife,

yes Steve can not believe he is this age and this happened, but as you say, thank goodness he spotted the problem and felt the pain. It was pretty obvious.

anyway he is out of intensive care and still in pain, but they moved him to a different room now.
Will again tell him that all of you have been inquiring about him.
he really appreciates all the wishes

    Steve

These posts underscore that we are a true community although most of us have never met! I am truly thankful to be a part of this group.

I went through a bypass at 49 years old, my brother at 45. In the genes. I think it`s important to remember that, when Steve is recovered, he will literally have the heart of someone 1/2 his age. I have a friend who had a heart attack and a quadruple bypass; today, following several years of exercise, the doctors cannot find damage to his heart!

Steve`s major challenge will be to not be too hard on himself and try to come back too fast. Given his age, he`ll also have to watch out for clinical depression. But that can be handled.

Bottom line: Steve will be back, stronger than before. It may be hard to believe, but a year or two from now, Steve may be saying this was a positive event in his life.

HI Everyone again this is Steves wife,
    Judy,

You are to be commended for not only taking the time to respond to Steves (internet or product) friends, but to show the strength and support to give him strength as well as handle the twins. I am a firm believer in the fact that a man is only as strong as his woman. Hats off to you Judy and remain strong!

    Aloha,

    John

Thanks Mr Clean, and John! for recognizing that fact!

I loved reading that from a bunch of guys saying it, yes it has not been easy to say the least.

I am trying to do two jobs and take care of my children and visit Steve. A lot of my friends have come through, though which is good.
Steve is coming along and will be home from the hospital in a few days. It will be a huge adjustment for all of us, I am sure.
Have to keep the girls from jumping on him for one thing!

    thanks for the wishes again
