    Question Orange Power Pad Discussion

I have recently gotten the LC/CMA Yellow Cutting Pad and White Cutting Pad I have tried Menzerna IP and FP with them as well as DACP I find the yellow pad leaves lots of buffer marks and swirls the white pad is ok but also leaves buffer marks. So I got around to gettin the Meguiars W9000 Buffing Pad It works great and I like the feel and softness much better. Would the Orange Power Pad be good to use with DACP what kind of pad would I follow after the Orange Power Pad would I go straight to the Finishing Pad. ? Thanks

Could Dwayne get the orange power pad by any chance I feel better ordering from him cause of the exellent service.

Either love it or hate it. I got two of them, used them once and sold them at another detailing site. THe worked just fine though no better than any other pad I`ve used. My problem withthem was the shape. Only the outside edges of the pad touch the finish unless yuo bear down pretty hard on the pad...which goes against everything one learns about machine polishing/buffing.

IMO, nice pad, well made but no better than standard Meg`s or Lake COuntry pads for less money.

I still need to try those Griots pads.

In your first paragraph you where talking about the CMA pads right. ? Does the Meguiars Red pad have the same amount of cut as the Orange Power pad or less. ? I really want to ditch the LC/CMA pads I dislike them I want to go either meg`s or OPP I just need something that doenst swirl up the finish so much as the LC pads do.

If you want to try the meguiars wait for the updated one to come out. The velcro backing comes unglued after only a use or two. Meguiars is working on the problem. When the update will be available I do not know. I hope soon, because I can purchase pads locally. I only purchase megs pads only when I need to, because the pads are disposable.

OPP cut is between LC cutting and LC polishing, just alittle more than Megs polishing pad. I have not noticed a haze or scratching caused by the OPP. The OPP buffs very cleanly. The downside of OPP is the velcro backing can be pulled off if the backing plate velcro is strong. (CMA BP=strong Meg`s BP= very weak)Further, the OPP require a small backing plate or the back of the pad will become damaged. I like the OPP, but will not use the pad until the problems are corrected. I did not get many uses out my OPP. Try an OPP you, you will either love it or hate it.

Dwayne was selling the OPP, so PM him. I do not think he has any left, will not be stocking them again because CMA is the exclusive distributor of the OPP.

The LC/CMA yellow is a very dense pad, has a strong cutting action. Meg`s red has less cut, but not much less. Megs red does not leave as much haze or scratching if any.

Cutting action of pads I have used:
    Most to least

    Wool
    3M PI-III Waffle Compounding pad 05734
    LC/CMA Yellow
    Meg`s Red
    OPP
    Meg`s Yellow
    LC/CMA White

    Most versatile pad
    Meg`s Yellow

Is there a site that sells multiple brands of pads?

I am wondering where the Griots would fit in there in Eds pads.

I tried the orange pads and didn`t really care much for them and don`t use them any more. I like the CMA yellow and white pads and haven`t had any swirl or buffer mark problems. I`d have to wonder actually how you`re getting them using a pc, (I assume you are). The Megs red foam pads have worked out good for me and I`ve been back for more. I like the cutting action of the red pad and would rate it very close to CMA`s yellow. The velcro backing does seem to be a slight problem on the Megs pads as was mentioned but I`ve re-glued one or two and re-used them without a problem until they do some design change. I`d rate the Megs yellow to the CMA white pad.

    Cujo31,
I have never used the pads from griots. I will try them someday.
Do the Griots pads have the Griots lifetime guarantee?

Hey guys, I`m new to the board and thought I`d put my .02 cents in. I haven`t used the lake or meguiar`s pads in years so I`m not really up on their newer stuff but for me the edge pads have done everything i need. the yellow, blue and green pads are the best i`ve tried. if someone has tried both, please tell me the advantages, if any....thanks!

I only have the LC pads from CMA for use with the PC only. I also have one Buff and Shine yellow pad. With a PC I see no difference in perfomance between the yellow and orange. It might just be the orange pads last longer as they claim on their site. Orange might be worth it for longevity otherwise I would just get the yellow if you want to go with the LC pads.
