Default Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner On Seats?

Hey There,

I was just wondering about the Carpet and Upholstery product. Upholstery basically covers all the different types of seats, cloth, vinyl, leather? I have to admit i am not a huge fan of the leather cleaner because its in a gel type form. Would it be okay to use the carpet and upholstery on leather and vinyl seats? I have access to vehicles with both types so i wanted to try it. dont want to damage them so i figured id ask first.

Thanks

Welcome to Wax Forum!

Our Mothers Leather Cleaner is actually a spray, and it is available widely at Ace Hardware and True Value Hardware stores, along with our Leather Conditioner cream.

We also do have a Leather Care all-in-one product in our Reflections line, and it works great on vinyl.

Our Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner is a general purpose carpet, upholstery and vinyl cleaner, and not formulated for leather but can work fine on some leathers. Many mid-range vehicles have a finished leather with a coating, and your 2003 Malibu would fit into that category of leather.

You could possibly use Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, but be sure to test in an inconspicuous area first.

Vacuum gently with a brush tool all seams and cracks and crevices.

On a water-dampened microfiber or cotton terry cloth (sometimes having a small bucket of warm water might be handy for a job like this to rinse and wring), mist a little Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner on the damp cloth and wipe an area gently with the cloth, rotating to a clean portion of the towel on a final wipe.

Take a dry cloth and wipe dry.

Our Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner would be a good choice, if you can find it locally. Check with your retailer or Hart International: http://www.mothers.com/06_buy/06_buy...rnational.html

In lieu of that, your owner's manual may have some suggestions, and most any fabric cleaning product should be able to handle the task, just be careful to brush the nap gently and let it dry thoroughly before sitting in the vehicle.

I was reminded that sometimes there are stain repellants on such fabrics, so refer to the owner's manual first to see if there are any precautions. At some point those wear off, however, and a thorough cleaning is recommended.

See our Detail Guide for tips.

You could re-apply a stain repellant for fabric, which should be available on most automotive or household chemical shelves should you decide you need it.

Unfortunately the seat cover detail is not included in the manual. Anyway, the products say it is safe with cloth so i have already ordered one.

by the way, how does this product smells?

It does not have a scent added, but it has somewhat of a fresh odor.

Vacuum the fabric and carpet regularly, keep the surfaces clean, and use an air freshener -- there are some that they call "new car smell"

Here in the States, it is any store that sells automotive supplies, and though they may come in different fragrances such as vanilla or cinnamin, there are some out there they call "new car smell" -- the terminology may vary in your country, but try different ones and find one you like.
