    practice pics

I`m in the process of starting a mobile business - right now I`m still working on getting a license, ins., flyers, business cards, website, etc.. In the meantime I`m trying to learn all I can while practicing my techniques and product use. Thanks to forums like Detail City I`m gathering a wealth of information. I think detailers helping detailers is very healthy for the industry and I look forward to the day when I will be able to offer advice likewise. Anyway, I just bought a 2000 Expedition (gas guzzler but rides like a cadillac) and figured I`d practice using my new PC. The truck had a lot of swirling in it although I wasn`t able to capture them very well with my cheap digital. After washing it I used DACP with a yellow Edge pad and set the PC to 4.5. I had some black paint showing up on the pad but I figured that meant it was working. It was leaving the surface somewhat dull so I followed up with machine glaze and topped it off with PS. I would have used #9 after DACP but I didnt have time. I spent the majority of my time wiping off the haze - is this normal? Anyway, my swirls are gone - at least I`m hoping I removed them and didn`t just hide them. Here is what it looked like afterwards.

    Hey Jason,

That is very common for DACP to do that. For one, it does have diminishing abrasives, so spread it on with the PC on 4, then don`t be afraid to shoot up to 6 to finsih it off.....this product needs that. You will also have less hazing when doing this. From there, you need to step down to a final polish that is less abrasive, and then off to the protection.

Good luck achieving success in business, and the car looks (and drives) great!
