    Liquid Ebony

I was reading through some posts over on Autopia and being that im not registerd over there I thought I would ask here!

Whats the craze about this product. THey refer to it being an old product that is not available. However I was able to find a few places on the web that you can order it from!

So I guess my question is ... What is Liquid Ebony? And is it as good as they are speaking of?

    used it once

A while back we had a SS Impala that was black and really messed up paint wise. I was the one cleaning it and a fellow worker told me to use the Liquid Ebony on it. The bottle looked old but it wasnt dried out. I tried it out and was amazed at the finish it produced. It wont take out scratches or defects but it gave a real nice looking finish to the car. ( I was using a rotary )
Well after the car sat for about 3 days it looked like $h1T!!!!
The mirror finish was gone and all the defects stood out like a sore thumb!!! If I remember right your only supposed to use it on darker colored vehicles. After I saw the results after 3 days I threw the bottle out. I only used it once and it was on a pretty bad looking ride so I guess my 2cents really dont count. Maybe if your detailing well taken care of BMWs you can swear by it but if your detailing dumpy SS Impalas you`ll swear at it.
    Good Luck

WOW!!! THAT STUFF IS DA BOMB!!

If I could find it, I would buy a bottle of it... IMO, there`s nothing like it. It is a little watery, slings allot, and it will stain your apron but it will do amazing things with a 9" real Lambs wool pad (the orange ones). Follow it up with Pro Polish #1 using a foam pad and I kid you not you will have a surface sealed so well that it will shine for a year. It also makes an amazing cutting cream for the worst oxidized vehicles when mixed 50/50 with Pro Machine Cleaner #2. Also, on a car that is badly laquer checked, it dries black in the cracks so one can make the whole vehicle shine without the dreaded white fill in that re-painted fender.

Used alone, it`s not for heavy swirled vehicles or for badly oxidized finishes because it`s more like a glaze (Meg`s #3 or 3M Hand Glaze). And you`re right, it`s mostly us old timers who will know what it is and what it does... please post one of those links you found where one can buy it.
A happy customer tells a friend ... An unhappy one tells many friends !!!

Gim-me a car with finns... :naughty and I`ll shows ya what detailin`s all about... :jump

I`ve used it and love it!!! I used it at a detail shop I used to work at. The distributor must not carry it anymore because we have the same one at work and they can`t get it. They started to carry this stuff called Vibra-Cut, which I also love, that they stopped carrying and now they do so maybe they`ll get some LE soon.

Not sure, I get it through Aratari. It`s got their name printed on the bottle, but there`s a whole line of products they have like that all in similar bottles. I`ll check the bottle when I get back to work to see if there`s a manufacturer lablel on it.
