    Door jambs

What process do you guys use for this? Including tools/brushes.

I have been contemplating using a Nylex brush to clean them out using a 1:2 of APC and then dress them with some Sprayway instant silicone.

I like to use a good damp (dipped in hot water) cotton towel to wipe the sills. Then I use any wax that I have that I don`t intend on using on the paint. Currently, I`m using up a bottle of Meguiar`s Quick Wax that somebody gave me (love those Meguiar`s spray bottles for QD - so I`m using it fast). Other times, I use the little bottle of Mothers cleaner wax that comes in the clay bar kit. Then I dress all the seals/weather stripping/rubber moldings with a water based protectant.

Allright, that sounds good. But what about the mechanics of the door, the hinges and the tubing that wiring is passed through.

For me its depends on how nad they are, I use a degreaser to spray on and a mechanics brush to get the dirt and grease to loosen up. Take the hose and rinse them well and then dry with the leaf blower and finsih with a towel. I`ve then use QD spray to finish up the job

If the tubing that the wiring is passing through is rubber, or vinyl, I use the water based protectant. For the hinges and latches, I use a clear Teflon grease.

    Beemerboy,
In using the hose, how do you make sure you don`t get any water into the car itself (behind the kick panel, on the carpet, etc.)? My hinges are grungy, and I am looking for a good (hopefully quick) way to clean them before a car show in 2 weeks.

    Thanks,
    Neil

I lay a towel over teh carpet but the water pressure is really low and I have one of those nozzles you can control it.

Use a good degreaser and a brush with the brissles on the end. Brush them up good then, take the water and gently rinse making sure that you do not get it in the hinges area or that much. The leaf blower really gets the water out of all areas, and then i finish up with a towel and QD spray

    Good Ole Reliable ...Simple Green

I bought a bunch in various paint brushes and "tailored" them into various sizes for cleaning tight area. Doors sills are one of these areas. I work for one high end dealer in particular that always thoroughly inspects the sills... I am always a step ahead of him though

    Spray wax after cleaning !!!

    Boss -
That`s so funny, we both use the Mother`s cleaner wax for doorways. I first got mine in a clay kit long ago and just wanted to use the wax up, now I buy it just for that reason - for the price, it can`t be beat. Although I have been known to use the P21S on the big $$$ cars.

Talking about spraywax. I know you can buy the spray-type wax, but can I mix up a spray mixture from some left-overs I already have? Mix it with water or what?

I have found that auto magic #70 is the best product to use in door jams, and I have used plenty. added bonus you get to use it on chrome and glass.

    Turbo,

You use the Auto Magic #70 everywhere huh? Didn`t I read a post where you also use it on wood laminate interiors.....I`ve never used it but maybe I`ll give it a try since it seems to have multiple uses.
