Sometimes, products will describe their pre-wax product as a "sealer & glaze"... But typically, a "sealant" (ie. UPP, Klasse, EX-P) is usually a synthetic protectant that usually last longer than natural wax (ie. caranuba) products. A glaze (ie. VM, CCC, #81, #7) is typically an oil-based product used before a last step product (LSP) to fill in any minor inperfections and put oils back into the paint.

There is just no standardization in product terms so it`s impossible to figure out what`s what sometimes. In a nutshell: Polishes contain fine abrasives to clean and remove minor imperfections. Sealants or waxes protect the polished surface with synthetic (sealants) or natural (wax) substances. In theory, that`s all you need. Some detailers like to use a glaze or sealer/glaze (Mothers) in between polishing a waxing. If you haven`t gotten out every paint flaw with the polish, the sealer/glaze will fill the pores of the paint, making it look wetter and smoother. They offer no protection and you must apply a sealant or wax over them. Some products are sort of a combo polish and sealer/glaze like 3M Swirl Mark Remover, which polishes and has fillers to conceal flaws as well. Just a final example of "pure" products: Poorboys Pro Polish - polish only. No fillers or glazes. 3M Imperial Hand Glaze - strictly a filler/gloss product to be used after polishing. P21S - a pure wax with no cleaning or polishing properties to be used after glazing. The best thing to do is to post questions as to what you are trying to accomplish on your vehicle and you`ll get plenty of help.
