Mothers Pure Carnauba Wax - silicone free?

Hi all,

I need some wax for my sailplane which is fibreglass with a polyurethane paint finish. Sailplane repair shops recommend silicone-free products to avoid problems with future repairs. I saw a tin of Mothers Natural Formula Pure Carnauba Wax at my local auto parts store recently - is that a silicone-free product?

In painting terms, you want a product that is "paintable". This means it can be removed with any standard paint prep like Prepsol or Acrysol.

Natural Formula Wax meets that criteria.

The repair shops seems to be more concerned with silicone migrating into the fibreglass over the years which makes repairs difficult. The sailplane community go to great pains to avoid any products containing silicone. As a new owner I'm a bit hesitant to go against the grain, although one repair/supply shop in the US sells natural formula Mothers specifically as a saiplane wax. I was surprised to see the natural formula in mu local auto shop since it is claimed to be made at his specific request, thus the question.
